There are two types of gum disease ‘gingivitis’ and ‘periodical disease’.

Gum disease is caused by bacteria, if it is caught early, it can be treated successfully. People who smoke, drink, are pregnant or on some form of medication have a higher risk of obtaining gum disease. Most people already have some form the disease. It is a major cause of tooth loss in adults.
